April
Testimony
As a
child my mother kept me in church (She sang with the
Beason Family Gospel Group). At a very young age I
went to the alter, not knowing what I was doing.
When I was around 13 I realized I was not saved and I
wanted Christ to be in control of my life to lead and
guide me. I went to Pastor Mark Large at Hines
Creek Baptist Church. At that time I turned my
life over to Jesus and from that day to today I know I
am saved. (Not always done right, but always asked
God to forgive me and help me do better). In 1988
my Step-dad Brian Rush was saved and joined my mother
singing Gospel music, traveling from place to place,
many times putting me on stage to sing with them.
Later my step dad became a preacher and was Pastor of
Rainbow Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN
for 7 years. In 2006 he became pastor of
Faith Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. On December
20th, 2008 he went home to be with the Lord after a long
battle with cancer. I really enjoyed singing and
traveling for Jesus. God gave me a talent to sing
and remember words and tunes to many, many songs.
When I was younger my mother, Lisa also got me a bass
guitar and taught me to play. In 2003, Larry and I got
married and we both (thru prayer) joined Grove Heights
Baptist Church. Over the next year two
gospel singing groups ask me to come and play the Bass
guitar and sing with them. I, within myself really
wanted to go but at that time Christ would not let me
say yes. (Wait upon the Lord). In September
2005, my husband had invited the “Free Spirits Gospel
Singers” to Grove Heights. During
October 2005, my husband informed me Tim had
called and told him their bass player had quit and ask
us to pray and think about joining up with them.
With prayer and the leadership of Christ by November we
were working together and began our journey for the Lord
as a Gospel Singing group. In February 2006 due to
medical reason the group had to quite. l had
sung solo before joining the Free Spirits and I still
wanted to sing for the Lord so I began singing solo
again. In May 2008 I teamed up with Brian Sexton
from United Missionary Baptist Church and we began our journey
singing for the Lord. God has blessed me with
the necessary sound equipment and given me many
Churches, Assistant Livings and Nursing Home, Benefits
and other events to sing
at. As I continue my work
of Spreading God's Word thru Songs God has
blessed us and we continue to get more and more
appointments. We has sung or been booked at over
90 churches, events and Assistance
Living. February 13, 2007 God blessed Larry
and me with a son (David Dean) even when the doctors
said I could not get pregnant.
The most enjoyment that I get
out of traveling, singing and “Spreading God Word Thru
Song” is seeing people come to the alter and life’s
being changed.
