Larry’s Testimony
I was saved and covered by the blood of Jesus at the age
of 17. Not really knowing what to do in my life,
but being raised in a Christian home were my daddy was a
pastor. I knew God , (my father) had a plan for me.
After High school at the age of 17 I joined the Army.
From High School to combat. While in the military
for over 21 years, wherever I was stationed I always
found a English speaking church where I could worship
and work for the Lord. I was very interesting in growing
both physically and spiritually.
God gave me my wife, Charlotte at a young age, she being
16 and me 18. She was a strong worker in Christ
and ensured our children were involved in God’s work.
After 28 years of marriage, 4 daughters and 12 years
living overseas God called her home to be with him.
She was 45. I was ordinate as a Baptist
Deacon 25 September 1983 and have been very blessed to
be active for my Lord no matter where I was living (God
is the same even Overseas). I have always been kind of
quite and enjoy doing a lot of the behind the scenes
type church work. (As a Drill Sgt for 3 years
I guess I was loud then). Being raised in church
and also around construction I have always enjoyed
helping and working for the church where ever I
attend. (Thru God’s help both Physically and
Spiritually). I
I have been and am currently a active Deacon and Sunday
School teacher at Grove Heights Baptist Church in
Knoxville. When April and I got married we wanted
a home church where we could work and grow. (We both
were members at different churches) God sent us to
Grove Heights to help build and become workers for our
Lord and our church. The church had no pastor and
at that time and less than 10 people attending. We
were not sure and visited many churches, but were always
led back to Grove Heights. (God let us wonder, but
brought us home). We both became members in 2003
and started our work for the Lord there. As the
church began to grow in number God sent us Pastor Clyde
Haynes. He is a blessing and strong worker for the
Lord. and Grove Heights. Many souls have been
saved and major work has been accomplished to the church
buildings and property.
During our early days at Grove Heights as the church
began to grow in number two different singing groups ask
April to play the Bass and Sing with them. God
just was not leading us that way at the time. In
August 2005, Brother Tim of the Free Spirits Gospel
Singers contacted me and ask if they could visit and
sing at the church. At that time we did not have a
pastor so I booked them for September 2005.
By that time Pastor Clyde was on board and more and more
people was being saved and joining the church.
Brother Tim’s group lost their base player and Tim has
a complete Hip replacement during October. April
had just released a CD (What a Friend in Jesus). April
Played bass and was a lead singer with the Free Spirits
until medical reason caused the group quit. April
began singing solo again with
sound tracks and God has richly blessed us with the
necessary equipment. God continues to bless us as we continue to do his work.
We have been or currently are booked at over 70 churches.
Booked at Assisted Living Homes, Nursing Homes and concerts
in the Smoky Mountains. Satan has tried to slow or stop
us, but thru Christ we are over comers. To
God be the Glory.
